COMMENT: These ten short stories (approximately 40 pages long or so) are outstanding. Naturally, some are better than others, but I genuinely did not sit there thinking, Oh wow! This story is total *BAD WORD*! However, I did find one or two I really did like - I loved EXTRACURRICULAR by Abby McDonald, and also STAR-CROSSED by Katie Dale.
GENERAL PLOT: I can't really write a general plot today, but...
- A boy meets the girl of his dreams oh holiday, and teaches him to live life on the edge - only then does he realise why she does.
- A girl moves to a new school, where she finds bullies and cool gangs run the school. Well, as an ex-convent girl, she has to make things right.
- A shy geeky girl is somehow catching the eye of Charlie, the most popular boy in school. But can she trust him, when he changes girlfriends like he changes shoes.
- A girl has been secretly in love with her best friend since forever. But since then, their mothers' had a big fall-out, and they moved away. But, suddenly, he's back.
- A girl is on holiday to Spain when she allegedly meets the guy of her dreams, but is her knight in shining armour who she thought he would be?
- A girl falls head over heels for her perfect man, but should you sacrifice a friendship just to get what you want?
- A girly day out turns out to be a boys day out too, she meets a French exchange student, but is he all he's cracked up to be?
- An aspiring vet (with a phobia of dogs!) is helped by a fellow employee, a friendship grows, her phobia is attempted to tackle, and romance looms in the air.
- A boy and his crush (a.k.a his best friend) does all he can to make his feelings obvious. However, the girl is so excited for the school dance, she doesn't even notice.
- A girl and her pen-pal write letters to each other as part of a school assignment, followed by a big twist, and her pen-pal shows up in her town; now what will she do?
So there you are! Some really great story lines, with one or two common situations. I am sorry I haven't posted much lately, but the getting-back-into-school-routine hasn't been the easiest this week - sorry! I might post again tomorrow if I have time. Today we got a new seating plan in science, which wasn't too bad. I (just!) managed keeping up in ICT, and maths was equations on line graphs. History is so so so boring right now (African-American slavery) for 6 weeks now, and I HATE this topic. If other people find slavery interesting, then that's their opinion, but I personally don't find it that interesting or pleasant. In RE we just watched HORRIBLE HISTORIES for the entire lesson, so I'm not complaining! Overall, not a bad day really...
Until next time,
CIAO,
